High School Sweethearts
Deven and Rickkal were young when they fell in love. I've been lucky enough to know them just before they graduated high school. As a photographer, it's always an honor when anyone trust you with capturing special moments. It is more so when they're close to you. When Deven Proposed Jared Greene Photography was there, and with no hesitation, we were there for Deven and Rickkal's engagement session.
This session was special, and ended up being a two day event. The original plan was to visit a location that has a lot of historical importance in Southern California, one of its most famous missions. On the day of the shot I arrived early as I often do. This allows me to survey the location, review my shot list and gauge the crowd. Typically, I do research on the location, looking for weather forecast, sunrise/sunset times and maybe visit Pinterest for inspiration. All these are things on my check list, but one of the most important steps.
There are locations that have certain requirements (appointments, permits, insurance etc.), things I normally check for. Unfortunately, we didn't have an appointment or a permit for the day. Unaware of the requirements, we begin our shoot and things are going great. Not long into shooting, a worker comes and questions us, we were in the wrong and stopped shooting immediately. Life lesson, the first and only time I didn't look into appointments and permits of course is the time it's required.
Feeling like I let my clients down, we move to an alternate location and I offer to do a second session free of charge. Deven and Rickkal spend lots of time at a local boxing gym together, which was perfect place. We met a week later for day two and had a fantastic time capturing the second day of their session.
